Registration /Switchboard/Cashier: Job Description

 

This position is responsible for obtaining accurate patient demographic and insurance information for both primary and secondary carriers, accurate verification of benefits and eligibility, maintenance of hospital census and control of the allocation of beds. Additionally, the position provides coverage of the switchboard, and serves as central communications to emergency support services, functions as a control for keys and personnel on property. Must be able to work rotating shifts, holidays, and weekends.

 

Responsibilities and Duties:

 

  • Responsible for prompt, courteous reception and processing of all patients presenting themselves for treatment. Completes registration documents for all patients. Records all patients seen on registration logs.

ER Registrar:  Job Description

Responsible for greeting incoming patients, distributing paperwork, entering in pertinent information, including insurance and demographic, and handling the processing of insurance.

 

Responsibilities and Duties:

Financial Controller: Job Description

 

Manage and improve our organization's financial performance and direct our accounting operations. Duties for the financial controller will include managing accounting records, evaluating and managing risk, ensuring compliance with regulations, publishing financial statements, overseeing accounting operations, analyzing financial data, monitoring expenditure, forecasting revenue, coordinating auditing processes, and ensuring accuracy of financial information.

Position: ICU/CCU Registered Nurse PRN/F-T

Description:

  1. Maintains current knowledge of critical care.
  2. Demonstrates the ability to interview patient on arrival to ICU/CCU to establish the condition of the patient and urgency of care.

Insurance Biller

 

Description:

The Insurance Biller, a key position in the Revenue Cycle, manages the claims process, including accurate and timely claim creation, follow-up and correspondence with providers, insurance inquiries/correspondence. The incumbent will assist in the clarification and development of process improvements and inquiries, assure payments related to patient services from all sources are recorded and reconciled timely in order to maximize revenues.

 

Responsibilities and Duties:

 

  • Responsible for timely filing of all insurance claims, motor vehicle accident claims, workers compensation claims and Medicare secondary claims.
  • Responsible for timely follow-up of unpaid/denied claims, In Rycan and CPSI. Medicare biller works claims in RTP and keeps passwords updated.
  • Responsible for identifying overpayments on accounts and completing refund slip.
  • Medicare biller is responsible for reporting any credit balances to WPS quarterly.
  • Medicare biller is responsible for calculating the projected payments from Medicare.
  • Medicare biller is responsible for the auto secondary billing process.
  • Commercial/Medicaid biller is responsible for the daily deposit and scanning checks electronically to the bank.
  • Must utilize outstanding customer service skills.
  • Must use exceptional telephone etiquette.

Laboratory Aide/Phlebotomist: Job Description

 

Responsibilities and Duties:

  1. Collects blood sample by venipuncture, arterial and capillary puncture demonstrating skill with patients ranging in age from newborn to geriatric. Collects swabs, drug screens and paternity specimens.
  2. Greets customers in a courteous and professional manner. Communicates with customers by telephone to receive information, schedule out-patient testing and transfer phone calls.
  3. Coordinates with providers and clinics to ensure proper orders and specimens are received.
  4. Enters lab orders in CPSI. Aides in verifying order is complete with signature and appropriate diagnosis.  Processes specimens into this lab from outside sites.
  5. Responsible for the processing of pathology specimens for pick-up.
  6. Responsible for filing lab orders and faxing lab reports as needed.
  7. Responsible for checking lab orders and forwarding information to HIS.
  8. Responsible for stocking, cleaning, and maintaining lab supplies.
  9. May act as Lead phlebotomist/lab aide which includes keeping office procedures up to date, organizing and coordinating orders from clinics and other outside providers, overseeing phlebotomy inventory, overseeing report faxing and distribution, preparing supplies for clinics, and communicating changes related to office and ordering processes to all staff.

Medical Clinic Receptionist

Medical Clinic Receptionist

This position is the first point of contact for patient and the community therefore individual must be professional and courteous to patients and staff.  Duties include but not limited to: answering the telephone; giving information about the practice within the limits of practice policies; greets patients, obtains and verifies patient information; advises patients, when necessary, of changes in expected schedule; creates and updates patient records accordingly.  This individual is responsible for all demographic and insurance information in patient charts/EMR, insuring all patients HIPPA papers are complete and maintains strict patient confidentiality.

Medical Scribe

 

Responsibilities and Duties:

  1. Accurately and thoroughly document medical visits and procedures as they are being performed by the physician
  2. Dictation/faxing/phone calls and clerical tasks. Medical Scribes are asked to prepare referral letters as directed by the physician, via dictation or summary of the medical record.
  3. Spot mistakes or inconsistencies in medical documentation and check to correct the information in order to reduce errors (All addenda must be signed off by a physician.)

 

Qualifications:

  • High-school graduate or equivalent.
  • Previous work experience as a scribe preferred
  • Understanding of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, diagnostic procedures, pharmacology, and treatment assessments to the extent required to understand and accurately transcribe dictated reports.
  • Excellent computer skills and communication skills required.
  • Must be able to type words and numbers quickly and accurately;
  • Must comply with HIPAA confidentiality standards when accessing or communicating patient information.

Position: Radiology Technologist

Position Type: Full Time - Days

Description:

  1. Handles and processes radiology orders utilizing the computer system in an efficient manner. Is able to manage workload demands by organizing and prioritizing. Has ability to maintain mature and professional behavior under the stress of heavy workload and acute patient care situations. Has the ability to maintain concentration with frequent interruptions.
  2. Transports patients ranging in age from newborn to geriatric for imaging procedures.
  3. Correctly initiates and performs all imaging procedures required at South Central Kansas Medical Center under the supervision of the radiologist and/or ordering physician.
  4. Always utilizes safe work practices including using minimum radiation exposure while imaging patients.
  5. Is able to recognize, identify and perform procedural or technical problems in radiology areas. Knows when to contact technical service or Clinical Engineer.
  6. May act as the lead tech for an assigned area, which includes monitoring of Quality Control, equipment operation and maintenance of the individual imaging modalities. Helps in the responsibility of keeping procedure manuals up to date. Responsible for supplies and watching costs in assigned area. Is responsible for weekend operations. Assists with orientation of new employees and competency assessment of all radiology employees.

Qualifications:

Education: Associates Degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school

License: Registered with the American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT)

Certifications: Certifications in Mammography, MRI, Ultrasound, Nuclear Medicine, CT

Experience: one-year experience preferred.

 

Radiology Tech - PT, PRN Available

Respiratory Therapist- Team Leader

 

Description:

  1. Organizes, directs and coordinates functions and activities in the RT department appropriate to skill level of the staff.
  2. Collaborates with medical staff and other providers to ensure optimal care to patients and their families.
  3. Assigns personnel appropriately.
  4. Ensures adequate staff coverage is available for the delivery of quality patient care.
  5. Ensures that patient care delivery follows accepted standards of practice and maintains policies and procedures according to State and Federal regulations.
  6. Ensures that equipment is maintained at level a conducive to quality care.
  7. Administers the department’s assets in an efficient, cost-effective manner.
  8. Adheres to reimbursement regulations as set forth by State, Federal, and private entities.
  9. Follows all departmental and SCKMC policies and procedures.  
  10. Develops QI activities for the department in conjunction with the Core Ancillary Services Manager and encourages participation from the team.
  11. Must be able to perform all of the functions of a CRT/RRT

Qualifications:

Education: Graduate of an AMA approved Respiratory Care Program or the equivalent.

License:   CRT or RRT

Certifications: Must be registered with the Kansas State Board of Healing Arts

Experience: 5-10 years of clinical experience and a minimum of one year of leadership experience.

Position: Utilization Review Coordinator    

Job Summary:

The Utilization Review Coordinator will monitor adherence to the hospital's utilization review plan to ensure the effective and efficient use of hospital services and monitor the appropriateness of hospital admissions and extended hospitals stays.

Description:

  1. Establishes and maintains efficient methods of ensuring the medical necessity and appropriateness of hospital admissions.
  2. Performs concurrent reviews for patients to ensure that extended stays are medically justified and are so documented in patient's medical records.
  3. Coordinates and supervises the activities of the Utilization Review Department.
  4. Calculates the lengths of stay and continued-stay days for patients.
  5. Refers to the Utilization Review Physician Advisor cases that do not meet established guidelines for admission or continued stay.
  6. Assists the Utilization Review Committee in the assessment and resolution of utilization review problems.
  7. Identifies problems related to the quality of patient care and refers them to the Quality Assurance Committee.
  8. Maintains communication with the Social Service Department to facilitate timely discharge planning.
  9. Compiles monthly reports and statistics for presentation to the Utilization Review Committee.
  10. Participates with the multidisciplinary team to evaluate, plan, and execute interventions appropriate to the management of the patient’s needs through the continuum of care.
  11. Performs the utilization review function to ensure the accurate assignment and appropriate use of resources.
  12. Conducts initial, concurrent, and retroactive reviews with payers.
  13. Conducts denial appeals and sends follow up record request for approval
  14. Works with Providers and nursing to ensure all documentation needs as met as required in the bylaws.
  15. Informs Providers on approval dates from payers.
  16. Trains employees for backup when requested.
  17. Participates in team process improvement.
  18. Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

Education:

  • High school graduate or equivalent.

License:

  • RHIT, RHIT, Licensed Practical Nurse/Registered Nurse in the State of Kansas, preferred

Experience:

  • Minimum of 1 year experience in Med/Surg, UR, Health Information or a comparable field required. Coding experience desirable.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

Working Conditions:

Works in an office environment 75% of the time. Job responsibilities require moderate exposure to noise, lighting, and/or temperature levels. Exposure to irritating, unpleasant, or hazardous elements or conditions (i.e. blood, chemicals, and infectious diseases) is minimal.

How the bonus program works.
South Central Kansas Medical Center will pay you a "recruitment bonus" if your lead results in the permanent placement of a healthcare professional.
Bonus amount varies based upon the medical specialty being recruited:
 
$500 - Registered Nurse
$1,500 - Physical or Occupational Therapist
$2,500 - Mid-Level Practitioner (Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner)
$5,000 - Physician
 
Bonus will be paid in two installments. The first half will be paid upon the recruited party successfully completes 90 days of employment through SCKMC or an affiliated clinic.
The second half will be paid after the recruited party successfully completes nine months of employment through SCKMC or an affiliated clinic.
 
Employees or affiliates of SCKMC are not eligible for bonus. Bonus will be provided only to first person to submit a candidates name.
